The Unknown Path
The Unknown Path
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all
your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his
will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.
Sometimes the unknown path is the best way to travel, since God directs our paths in life it's during the unknown our trust and faith in God strengthens our relationship. There will be times He will ask us to give up things or make decisions that don't make sense, but rest assured God has a plan in everything we do. At this time I have chosen to be obedient and walk the unknown path with God. He has guided my decision to end my career of teaching Montessori in the next six months; even though I don't know what I will be doing I have complete faith, trust, and excitement for what God will show our family. We can not lean on our own understandings because only God sees the complete picture of our lives from beginning to end. Who better to walk the unknown path with than the Almighty Creator?
Something to Ponder
When you are trying to make a decision and you don't know what to do I encourage you to do nothing at all until you hear from God. Now I challenge you to walk the unknown when God directs you to. Who are you going to put your trust in, your own understanding or God's? Walking the unknown with God could just be the best adventure of your life!
God is With You
God is With You
We face many challenges every day, some small and some so big that we feel like we're in the middle of a storm. God knew we would go through these trials even before they happen. God is such a loving Father that He gives us this promise to help us through the trials by never leaving us.
Isaiah 43:2
When you go through deep
waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of
difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire
of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not
consume you.
This scripture gives us hope when we are in the storm, knowing we are never alone. Hang on tight to God's promise; it will affect how you cope with what you're going through. We are not promised an easy, stress free life, but we are promised God's loving hand through it all. No matter what life throws at you find peace in remembering that some day there will be no more trials when we are living with God in Heaven.
Something to Ponder
When your life seems like a big storm know that God is carrying you through the unbearable parts and walking beside you through the less chaotic parts, and even when life is going good God is still in arms reach. God is with you ALWAYS!
Taking the Focus off the Pain
Taking the Focus off the Pain
Isaiah 26:3
You will keep in perfect
peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on
you! Isaiah 26:3
Today my son was running around
outside playing tag with some neighbourhood kids when he fell
and scraped his knee pretty bad. Followed
by his big fall were some tears, yelling, and a big band-aid. Whenever my son gets hurt he has a hard time keeping his focus off the pain, we usually have to find something to distract him with because the more he thinks about it the louder he gets. This time was different, on his own he asked for his Bible so I brought it to him because his knee hurt too much. He began to read and to my surprise I didn't hear a word from him about the pain. I loved watching my young son turn to God during a painful time and finding peace and comfort through His word.
How often do we endure pain in our lives as adults? Some people will distract themselves through habits that only act as a band-aid, like shopping, alcohol, and work. So why not distract ourselves with God through the Bible and prayer. This is a good habit to get into that won't just cover up the pain but will bring you peace, comfort, and healing when necessary.
Something to Ponder
Next time there is pain in your life skip the band-aid and reach for your Bible!
When Life Gets You Down Turn To God
When Life Gets You Down
Turn To God
Psalm 46:1
God is our refuge and strength,
always ready to help in
times of trouble.
Are you feeling overwhelmed with life and just not sure how you are going to get through the day? Do you feel so much pain that you just want to give up sometimes? For some people this is a daily challenge and for others it's occasional. We live in such a broken world that these challenges are more common than you may think. For Christians just witnessing the terrible things that go on around us that goes against God can be enough to get you down, or to see so many people who are not yet saved can be overwhelming. Sometimes the hardest challenge is to watch another Christian go through something that may seem so unfair when you know they are following Jesus.
So who do we turn to when life gets us down?
God brings comfort to those who have heavy burdens;
He is who we need to turn to.
I find great comfort in the verse Psalm 46:1
God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times
of trouble. How wonderful is that? God IS OUR refuge and strength, if anyone was going to be my refuge and strength I would want it to come from God the creator of the universe. He is ALWAYS ready to help in times of trouble, doesn't that sound wonderful the creator of the universe is ALWAYS there for us never leaving us.
Something to Ponder
God is bigger than your
biggest fear and your deepest pain, He promises
us refuge, strength, and help during troubled times. Nobody else is capable of doing all these things so who are you going to turn to when life gets you down? Jesus is waiting for you with open arms, invite Him into your heart.
Why Would I Bless Someone Who Is Mean To Me?
Why Would I Bless Someone
Who Is Mean To Me?
How do you react when someone does something to you that you don't like?
In all my years of working with young children and being a mom I have seen many different outcomes to this question. Young children need to be taught how to react in these situations, not only by our words but through our examples. The Bible tells us in 1 Peter 3:9 how to react when someone isn't kind to us.
Don't repay evil for evil. Don't retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will bless you for it.
1 Peter 3:9
This is harder than it sounds, in most cases our human nature is to "get even" (repay evil with evil) with the person who has offended us. We might do this with our words by saying something mean back to hurt that person, or even start a rumour or gossip about that person to turn others against them. The Bible clearly tells us differently, if we are going to live a life following Jesus' examples then we need to do nothing but pay them back with a blessing.
WOW! When was the last time someone offended you and you repaid them back with a blessing?
Something to Ponder
For every time we pay someone back with a blessing who has offended us we are being obedient to God. This reason alone should be enough incentive for us to do it, and it's always nice knowing that God will bless us for our obedience. What a feeling it would be to bring someone to Christ just by following His example!
Opened Your Bible Lately?
Opened Your Bible Lately?
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
2 Timothy 3:16
One of our roles as a Christian parent
is to teach our children right from wrong. A child needs discipline and needs to be corrected when they choose to do something wrong. So who disciplines adults and corrects us when we choose to do wrong things?
We are all sinners and need to be
disciplined and corrected just as a child does. Our Heavenly
Father never steers us in the wrong direction, the Bible
brings us truth and tells us how to live a life that is
pleasing to God. We need to be saturated in God's word
everyday, there is so much in this world that pollutes our
minds so we need to protect our minds by reading what is true.
The Bible teaches us what is wrong and what is right in God's eyes. It's easy for us to think about the obvious sins such as murder, adultery, and lying but what about the less obvious, how we speak and what we feed our minds with. Everyday we connect with people in our lives, spouses, children, friends, people we walk past on the street, how we speak to others, expressions on our face, and manners all account for what is pleasing to God.
Something to Ponder
Before you open your Bible pray to God and ask for a deeper understanding of what you are going to read. Saturate your mind with what you have read and ask yourself how God's word applies to you. Don't just think because you have read it before that you know all there is to know about that one scripture. The Bible not only teaches us how to live but gives us a better understanding of who God is.
Have you opened your Bible today?
When Life Gets Too Busy for God!
When Life Gets Too Busy for God!
Be still, and know that I am God….. (Psalm 46:10)
When life gets you down and you feel like what's the point to all this? There is not much time left in a day for the things you enjoy, because of all your responsibilities. Between working, taking care of your family, your home, and running around doing errands it's easy to become exhausted. Well may I remind you that God has a purpose for your life, He has a purpose for you everyday. Sometimes life does get pretty hectic and when it does we can feel overwhelmed, God tells us "Be still, and know that I am God…." (Psalm 46:10) If you feel like you haven't heard from God and don't really know what your purpose is then obey God's word, be still, pray, and listen. Sometimes our daily purpose is something that doesn't seem significant to us like taking care of your sick child. To Jesus when we care for the sick we are showing love and when we show love to others we love God as well. There might be times when God will bring people into our lives that are broken and your purpose is to reach out and comfort that person. No matter how small or big a purpose seems to us, to God they are all equally important.
Something to Ponder
We should be able to always find time for God even during the hustle and bustle of everyday life. If this is an area you struggle with maybe take a closer look at your daily priorities.
Is God at the top of your list?
But I Don't Want To Wait For The Answer!
But I Don't Want To
Wait For The Answer!
My son has wanted to start his own business for a while now he is driven to be an entrepreneur, I should let you know that he is only 6 years old. He has become very discouraged because he is having a hard time coming up with a craft idea to sell, I encouraged him to pray to God and ask God to guide him. So immediately he ran off to the next room to be alone and began praying, about one minute later he returns and says that God hasn't answered him yet!
I took my troubles to the Lord;
I cried out to him, and he answered my prayer.
Psalm 120:1
Oh the faith of a child isn't it
wonderful?
I explained to him that God hears and answers all of our prayers and He will answer in His perfect timing so until then he has to be patient. How patient are we when we pray to God for wisdom or guidance? Our human mind is accustom to asking a question and getting the answer right away, so when we don't hear from God immediately it can be a struggle and we can become very impatient.
Something to Ponder
If you have unanswered prayers ask yourself if there are any distractions in your life that might be affecting you from hearing from God, sometimes we are so distracted that we miss the answer.
But God did listen! He paid attention to my prayer
Psalm 66:19
Are you patiently waiting for an
unanswered prayer?
